We’re seeking an innovative and future-focused Associate Director of SEO Technical Operations and Strategy who’s passionate about staying up-to-date on industry trends, algorithm changes and the ever-changing landscape of search engine strategy. You’ll be responsible for optimizing web properties across EdPlus products to enhance search engine visibility and drive organic traffic to our websites. You’ll utilize your technical expertise to implement SEO strategies, troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve website performance and user experience. This role requires a deep understanding of technical SEO principles, including website architecture, crawling and indexing mechanisms, schema markup, canonicalization and mobile optimization.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct SEO audits of websites to find on-page optimizations, off-page opportunities and technical issues. 
  • Demonstrate active engagement with new releases and updates from major search engines (i.e. Google, Bing), including advancements in AI, user interface modifications, search algorithm updates and the introduction of new rich content features.
  • Develop comprehensive SEO performance health reports, providing regular status updates on changes in rankings and website traffic.
  • Utilize advanced technical SEO skills to inform and enhance content-driven strategies, ensuring seamless integration of technical optimization tactics within content creation efforts.
  • Collaborate effectively with other ASU SEO leads to align on enterprise-level SEO strategies and initiatives, maximizing the impact of SEO efforts across the university.
  • Implement a vision through short, medium and long-term projects.
  • Understand business metrics and KPIs to show how SEO efforts impact organizational goals.
  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.


Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated mastery in analyzing SEO datasets to identify trends and extract actionable insights.
  • Evidence of strong working knowledge of industry-standard tools including Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Bing Webmaster Tools, SEMrush, Moz and similar platforms. 
  • Evidence of skill in collaborating with engineers to optimize website architecture including knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, structured data and other technical components.
  • Evidence of deep understanding of the ad supported space and a champion for providing the best user experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-energy team environment characterized by rapid pace and dynamic workflows, exhibiting resilience and adaptability while adhering to our core values of accountability, continual learning and agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate between hands-on execution of SEO tasks and long-term strategic planning.
  • Evidence of effective communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of teams including data, product management, marketing, web development, content creation, and UX/UI design.
  • Evidence of strong leadership skills to oversee senior individual contributors, collaborative team environments and high-visibility projects, with ability to set strategic direction, prioritize tasks and mentor team members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Evidence of previous enterprise-level SEO experience preferred.
  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy.
