CPS seeks an outstanding individual to be the Associate Director, Recruitment and Admissions. Reporting to the Director, Recruitment and Admissions, the Associate Director will be a collaborative partner with a high premium on customer service who manages the Recruitment team; and develops, implements, and evaluates recruitment strategies, policies, and procedures. The core responsibilities of this role are to supervise the work of recruitment staff, to manage the daily operation of the office while developing and maintaining professional relationships with key contacts; similarly, to maintain a thorough understanding of the recruitment and admissions process, to develop, recommend, and implement strategies to facilitate and strengthen recruitment processes, and to provide reports and data analysis for determining effectiveness of recruitment tactics to the Director. This position will also participate in projection planning and contribute to annual and multiple-year budget projections. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training and mentoring, manages performance and determines future staffing needs.
Day to Day Operational Management
● Supervises day-to-day operations and routine activities of the recruitment staff including performance management.
● Provides training, administrative, and technical support to the recruitment team.
● Conducts all recruitment activities with the highest integrity and business ethics while adhering to GW and CPS policies, regulations and best practices.
● Identifies, clarifies, and resolves recruitment issues and concerns with substantial significance in accordance with established policies, procedures and best practices, using technical and professional knowledge.
● Accurately develops and monitors statistical reports for senior leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
This is a hybrid position with some days remote and some days in the office. The primary office location is in Alexandria, VA with occasional meetings on the main campus in Washington, DC. Some travel required for recruiting events.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of admissions and recruitment practices.
  • 1+ year experience supervising and leading teams. Experience with motivating hybrid teams is highly desired.
  • Able to manage and improve workflow and workload for the team, assess work quality, and provide timely and meaningful feedback to team members as well as providing training and development as needed.
  • Significant experience planning events that impact yield, i.e. open houses, admitted student days, virtual outreach, and engagement activities.
  • Manage quality deliverables with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take a wide-range approach to problem-solving and decision-making through objective analysis, critical thinking, and planning.
  • Significant experience working with CRMs and academic databases. TargetX, Slate, and Banner skills are highly desired.
  • Experience recruiting and engaging with adult learners.
  • Ability to develop and provide reports that impact planning and strategic formation.
