Position Summary and Duties | Summary: The Associate Director, Neighborhood Resilience will oversee community-campus partnerships with the ultimate goal of strengthening the resilience of the communities along the York Road corridor. The Associate Director will be a part of CCSJ’s (Center for Community Service & Justice) leadership team and supervise staff. The Associate Director will also support the Executive Director in ensuring the operations of the York Road spaces (Public safety and the Govans Farmers Market site) foster social networks and community building across differences year-round. CCSJ is a part of the university’s Mission and Identity Division, whose team members assist in animating our Jesuit, Catholic mission and values, at the intersection of the service of faith and the promotion of justice. Essential Functions: Program Development for Neighborhood Resilience In partnership with York Road Partnership, develop a set of pilot programs in the areas of youth opportunity in the lead up to the Public Safety space opening. Identify potential community and campus partnerships for the emerging wealth and wellbeing area. Identify existing community-university programs that align with the program portfolio overall (ex. Govans Expungement Clinics). Collaborate with CCSJ Associate Director of Programs and Faculty Director for Community Engaged Learning and Scholarship to develop and maintain student leadership and academically-driven programs to the benefit of the York Road Corridor. Support CCSJ’s Executive Director in coordinating with campus evaluation partners to scaffold and implement program evaluation strategies utilizing a Vital Conditions for Wellbeing Framework. Develop a partnership with the Simon Center for Entrepreneurship to explore extending its expertise to area businesses and use of space. Support student leaders planning special events for the corridor, including the Annual Halloween Block Party and other seasonal community-building events. Operations and Program Scheduling Support the CCSJ Executive Director in managing day-to-day operations of York Road programming spaces including the new Public Safety building community-university space and the current site of the Govans Farmers Market. Develop an ongoing relationship with Loyola’s Campus Police to maintain positive relationships with visitors of the public safety building. Support CCSJ’s Executive Director in developing and maintaining university building policies and risk management procedures for visitors, program participants, and community partner use of flex office space. Ensure proper design and execution of programmatic Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU). Partnership Management and Community Relations Support the Executive Director in maintaining Loyola’s partnerships along the York Road Corridor, including schools and area youth-serving partners. Provide backbone support for York Road Partnership’s Youth Committee and youth-serving efforts. Assist the leadership of the York Corridor Business Improvement Management Authority in maintaining access to university facilities. Work with student leaders and the Govans Farmers Market Manager to promote events and York Road community events via CCSJ’s York Road Initiative marketing and media channels. Serve as a Transform Mid-Atlantic AmeriCorps VISTA supervisor and attend related meetings as needed. Attend regional and national meetings as it relates to their position. Position may require some weekend and evening work. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. |
Required Qualifications | 5-8 years’ experience working with community-based organizations, neighborhood coalitions, and/or youth-serving organizations, including 1+ years of supervisory responsibilities. Experience working through partnership, via coalition building, organizing and/or project planning and responding to diverse and changing field conditions. A successful candidate will be a strong manager, and a resourceful, creative thinker, with confidence to achieve impactful results. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to work with diverse populations, with strong sensitivity to racial, cultural and economic diversity. Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings is required. |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience with program and program scheduling operations preferred. Experience or demonstrated interest in anti-racism or racial justice work preferred. Ability to develop collaborative relationships within and between university and community partners preferred. |
