Job Description

Under general supervision, the Associate Director leads planning and implementation of student experiences fostering community, inclusion, and social change through programs, activities, workshops, and trainings that celebrate culture, honor heritage, affirm identities, and cultivates a shared understanding and appreciation for diversity. The Associate
Director will provide leadership and oversight to the Cultural Coalitions, International student support, cultural-based student clubs and organizations, and Special Convocations. The Associate Director will advise assigned Coalition(s), facilitating student involvement in planning and implementing program aligning with their respective goals and objectives. The position works collaboratively with other Associate Director in providing leadership for Culture@ASU, Heritage@ASU, and other retention and persistence
initiatives. The Associate Director serves on various committees on behalf of the department to cultivate community, healthfulness, and skill building.
The position reports to the Director for Cultural Connections and is primarily based on the Tempe campus, with university‐wide responsibilities.
Days and Schedule:
This position requires presence across locations for business purposes.
Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. This position is salaried and requires availability on nights and weekends, as needed, for ASU programs, events, and activities.

Essential Duties

• Provide a significant level of leadership and support for university‐wide programs aimed at increasing community and inclusion. • Create and execute diversity, inclusion, equity, justice, and belonging training and
workshop curriculum for student leaders, advisors, and students in general across all locations.
• Develop, facilitate, and execute a train the trainer module for Cultural Connections
curriculum and trainings for professional and student employees and student leaders.
• Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to advance retention and persistence
initiatives.
• Advise assigned coalition(s) and support respective member organization advisors.
• Supervise, train, and develop professional and student employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    • Experience working with diverse/historically underrepresented undergraduate and graduate student population.
    • Experience as an effective leader in a culture of shared governance.
    • Experience working with faculty on student-centered events and activities.

    • Ability to facilitate dialogue on sensitive topics/difficult issues in a complex and diverse
    environment.
    • Evidence of building consensus and cultivating collaborative teams

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success.
