Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary
 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Associate Dean of Research in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preferred start date of January 1, 2025.  This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.


Responsibilities
 

The Associate Dean for Research advances the research mission of the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS). The Associate Dean will:

  • Serve as a liaison to the Office of Research and will organize/manage inter-departmental research groups and interests. 
  • Supports the sponsored research process in the college by working collaboratively with the Office of Research and college investigators.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external entities for research and partnership development. 
  • Provides leadership, strategic direction, and executive oversight for all matters related to research.
  • Oversee compliance with various regulations by principal investigators and monitor safety procedures in college research, in collaboration with various units and committees (e.g., environmental health and safety (EHS), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and the Institutional Review Board (IRB)).
  • Manage research resources including working collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Operations in allocating space for faculty, staff, and graduate student researchers, and funds for graduate research assistantships.
  • Design and propose new initiatives inclusive of the planning and execution of grant proposals, community engagement events, symposia, and conferences.
  • Serve as a supportive and strong mentor for faculty, staff, and students in the area scholarship, community engagement, and sponsored research.
  • Support the development of a network of experts advancing research and sponsored research.
     

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and¿SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

 


Required Qualifications
 
  • A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in one of the disciplines within the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU is required.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service commensurate with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured full professor in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU.
  • Administrative and/or leadership experience in an academic and/or research setting (e.g., experience as center or institute director, lead in research working group, graduate director/coordinator, department chair, and/or associate dean).
  • Experience in securing extramural funding as an investigator.
     

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Record of leadership and mentorship in research and creative activities.
  • Previous experience in a large and multi-faceted institutional setting that includes faculty with varied areas of research and creative activities expertise.
  • Previous experience designing and/or implementing successful research development programming.
  • Experience building and fostering a culture of sponsored research, including interdisciplinary collaborations across the college and university.
  • Demonstrated record of receipt of extramural grant-funding including federal grant funding.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget management.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting faculty at all career stages in their sponsored research, scholarship, creative activities, and career development.
  • Demonstrated success in higher education leadership.
  • Previous experience cultivating relationships with community, professional, and alumni/ae stakeholders.
  • Evidence of fostering a positive work environment and constructive interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective and strong communication skills.
