About the Job
The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach is responsible, along with the head coach, to help student-athletes in their spiritual development. In addition, key duties consist of teaching and developing skill, organization of academics, administration, practice, team travel, and games, player recruitment, promotions, primary programs maintenance, and scouting. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a detail-oriented and highly-structured work environment.

  • We’re looking for candidates who have:       

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. A minimum of two to five years coaching experience at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) level is preferred.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities. Able to effectively motivate and supervise student-athletes using a traditional, evangelical Christian approach, and willingly support the CCU athletic department.
  • Accomplishments in developing soccer skills and bringing out the potential in student-athletes – both in the classroom and on the field.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all rules and regulations pertaining to the soccer program as established by the NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), and CCU.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, detail-orientation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong technology skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The Assistant Men's Soccer Coach is responsible, along with the head coach, to foster Christ-centered community and spiritual development among student-athletes, invest in the team’s ability to succeed in their individual academic goals, and provide opportunities for the team to engage with the world through meaningful service.
    Teaching and Mentoring         

  • Develop student-athletes in their spiritual walk in Christ by setting a positive example, leading devotions, and developing other social programs to further a traditional, evangelical Christian ministry.
  • Counsel and aid student-athletes with attaining career or educational/post college goals, and organize a team retreat.
  • Spend significant time teaching techniques to develop skills that will improve individual athletes and the team as a whole. Assess opportunities for improvement through observation of practices and games and provide feedback and coaching to improve individual and team success.
  • Mentor student-athletes with their academic success by assisting with planning class schedules, collaborating with the Life Directions Center, monitoring academic progress, communicating with professors, and providing follow up with effective and clear communication.
  • Recruitment         

  • Identify student-athletes for review by head coach who fit CCU’s model of an evangelical soccer program.
  • Compile and maintain records and needed information about all prospects, including all transcripts, clearinghouse forms, test scores, game schedules, and game film.
  • Coordinate communications and organize home visits, campus visits, and on-campus meetings for prospective student-athletes.
  • Travel Coordination         

  • Gather all travel information including times, dates, costs and other information as needed.
  • Secure travel arrangements and provide trip itinerary to team including room assignments, practice times, curfews, meetings, etc.
  • Establish study hall while on the road.
  • Coordinate with the transportation coordinator to set up vans or buses for local games, reserve vans for all departures and arrivals, and assign drivers.
  • Basketball Program Coordination       

  • Oversee team equipment and needed supplies, work with others to arrange for visiting tournaments – on and off-campus, and scheduling of individual physicals. Assist in finding sponsors for CCU tournaments or other programs.
  • Organize team practices for CCU team needs, opposing coaches, and others who may need assistance with the CCU facilities. Maintain knowledge of effective soccer workouts and consistency with the head coach’s philosophies.
  • Responsible for meet management and determining meet strategy in collaboration with the head coach. Utilize statistics and other analytics to assist with strategy preparation and communication with team.
  • Assist head coach with promoting and running events.
  • Promote the head coach’s philosophy, implement the head coach’s system, and support the head coach to athletes and the community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. You will be required to work irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Local and regional travel is expected. National travel may occur. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

    The pay range for this job is $35,000 -  $40,000 annually. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations. CCU does not determine pay based on sex or any other protected status. Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process.

    Spiritual Requirements

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  • Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  • Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  • Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
