Job Description:

The Department of Biological and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure-track appointment (nine-month basis) in Biology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2022. Applicants should be prepared to teach courses across the undergraduate/graduate curriculum including core vertebrate zoology and field biology courses. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, ideally be able to involve students in his/her scholarly work, and serve in developing/revising organismal biology courses. Required Qualifications:

Applicant should have a doctorate in Zoology, Biology, Wildlife, or in a closely related field. He/she must have completed at least 18 graduate hours in the above disciplines of study. Skills and commitment to providing high-quality education within a culturally diverse environment are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

The department supports a wide variety of research and teaching scholars, and has a strong interest in building our integrative biology program. The candidate will be expected to teach core lower-level courses, upper-level organismal courses (such as ornithology, mammalogy, and field biology), and establish a research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants from all areas of biology are encouraged to apply. Experience with writing grant proposals, obtaining external funding, and recruiting students will be considered additional assets. The successful applicant is expected to guide MS theses or projects. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
