Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a tenure–track appointment (nine-month basis) in statistics at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2022.

Applicants should be prepared to teach courses across the undergraduate/graduate curriculum including core courses.  The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program, ideally be able to involve students in his/her scholarly work, and serve in developing/revising statistical courses in collaboration with other disciplines.

Required Qualifications:

Applicant should have a doctorate in statistics or in a closely related field. He/she must have completed at least 18 graduate hours in statistics. ABD considered. Skills and commitment to providing high-quality education within a culturally diverse environment are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

The department has a new MS program in Statistical Analytics, Computing, and Modeling. Therefore, preference will be given to applicants with at least 18 graduate hours in statistics and at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics and experience in computational statistics, big data, multivariate analysis, and spatial statistics. However, applicants from all areas of statistics are encouraged to apply. Experience with writing grant proposals, obtaining external funding, and recruiting students will be considered additional assets. The successful applicant is expected to guide MS theses or projects.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
