Job Description

The Department of Language and Literature at Texas A&M University–Kingsville invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric position to teach all levels of composition and rhetoric beginning fall 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Will teach four sections each fall and spring semester. Courses include first-year composition, sophomore Technical and Professional Writing, as well as upper-division undergraduate and graduate level courses in Rhetoric and Composition and in Cultural Studies. Will remain active in research, professional development, grant writing, and service to the university and profession. The position also requires active participation in recruitment activities for the undergraduate and graduate programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Earned PhD in Composition and Rhetoric or in English with specialization in Composition and Rhetoric/Writing Studies from a regionally accredited university by time of appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

(1)Experience teaching first-year writing;
(2)Experience teaching student populations;
(3)Experience teaching writing in multimodalities;
(4)Preferred qualifications include research and teaching experience in Minority Rhetorics; Digital Rhetorics; Disability Rhetorics; Rhetorics of Health and Medicine; and/or Multimodal Discourse. Secondary qualifications sought in Creative Writing teaching experience.
