The Opportunity

The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor in architecture. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2024. The selected candidate will teach a three-course load per semester. They will deliver courses at the undergraduate level that inspires majors in Architectural Design, Architectural History, and Architectural Theory. They will conduct scholarly research and service, interact with the community of practicing architects in Central Florida, collaborate with their colleagues from Valencia College, the University of Florida, and other partners while maintaining regular office hours. UCF supports and rewards teaching excellence. Faculty are expected to participate in department and university service including committee work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master of architecture from an accredited institution. Evidence of competence with a range of materials, equipment and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in forming partnerships with industry and within academia.

  • A record of diverse professional and/or distinctive scholarly work in the field of Architecture and Design.

  • A resourceful, collaborative, versatile thinker/producer with an emphasis on developing and teaching Architectural Design Studio, Digital Media, Architectural History, Environmental Technology, Materials and Methods and/or Architectural Theory courses.

  • Demonstrated teaching experience at an institution of higher education.

The first 10 pages (max) could include labeled samples of student work from an institution of higher education assessed by the applicant.  The remaining 10 pages must consist of labeled samples of research, academic, and professional work. Portfolio upload should not exceed 10MB.
