Job Description:

The Chemistry Program at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professional Professor of Chemistry. This is a full-time, 9-month appointment faculty position to begin fall 2024. The candidate would be expected to teach lower-level courses (General Chemistry and possibly Organic Chemistry). In addition, the faculty hire would be expected to coordinate lower-level chemistry labs, supervise the teaching assistants, and oversee laboratory curriculum reform efforts. The successful candidate would ideally have expertise in chemical education or significant experience and/or a demonstrated strong interest in improving lower-level chemistry undergraduate curriculum (primarily General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry).  As a Hispanic-serving institution, we strongly encourage applications from candidates committed to our educational mission. The Chemistry Program is part of the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS). It offers both undergraduate and graduate (MS) degrees in chemistry. PENS is also home to programs in Atmospheric Science (BS), Coastal and Marine System Science (MS, Ph.D.), Environmental Science (BS, MS), Geology (BS), and Physics (BS).

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses.

  • Experience in curriculum design and management of undergraduate laboratory courses.

  • Experience in training and management of teaching assistants

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic community.
