POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant Librarian - Reference & Access Services Librarian 


Responsibilities: Texas A & M University-Kingsville seeks a dynamic, service-oriented, Librarian to provide leadership for the Access Services Department (circulation, reserves, shelving, and interlibrary loan) as well as providing reference and instructional services to a diverse university community. Under the direction of the Head of Library Systems, this full time, fixed-term position is responsible for the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of three full-time positions, and a varying number of student staff; coordination of circulation desk scheduling for a 100-service hour week; interpretation and enforcement of library policies and the coordination of the automated circulation and reserve systems. In addition, this position will provide reference assistance in person, by phone and online including some evening and weekend hours.


Education: MLS or equivalent from an American Library Association accredited program required. 


Qualifications: Experience with and understanding of academic library circulation systems. Ability to manage effectively. Working knowledge of web page authoring, presentation and office suite applications. Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to provide reference instruction. Ability to multi-task and work effectively independently and in a team environment. 

Desired: Two years of circulation experience in an academic library.
