Position Summary and Duties
The Assistant Director will serve as the lead writer, editor, and content specialist for the Undergraduate portion of the Enrollment Management division at the university, and is responsible for managing the creation and implementation of engaging content that tells the Loyola University Maryland story across various platforms, publications, and campaigns essential to enrolling first-year and transfer classes to the university annually. This position collaborates with the internal Marketing and Communications, Undergraduate Admission, and Financial Aid teams to coordinate, develop, deliver, and assess digital and print communications; maintain consistent, branded content on various websites, microsites, and landing pages and across other digital media; manage marketing vendor relationships, and create/manage event and email communications within the Slate CRM. The position also develops and manages content for all social media platforms for undergraduate admission and financial aid and is responsible for measuring results and adjusting strategies accordingly.
Content Development and Campaign Management for Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid
  • Lead copywriter, editor, and content specialist for the undergraduate portion of the Enrollment division. Writes, edits, proofreads, researches, and creates content for email, social, web, ads, and print recruitment materials and campaigns. Makes recommendations to optimize efforts of campaigns for multiple stages of the recruitment and enrollment cycles. Vehicles include all print collateral, online university profiles, individual emails, drip-marketing campaigns, web content updates, web chatbots, emails, presentations, and selected advertisements
  • Proofreads, edits, and re-purposes stories, articles, press releases, biographies, profiles, email communications, and web pages; writes and edits scripts; interviews subjects to support content creation
  • Audits and updates existing web content and optimize for SEO
  • Assists with managing the communications timeline for multiple constituencies at various stages of the admission funnel: inquiries, applicants, accepted students, parents, high school counselors, etc.
  • Writes, designs, builds, tests, and sends email and SMS messages using the Slate CRM. Performs appropriate quality assurance checks and ensures the integrity of communications. Uses A/B testing to measure effectiveness and adjust messaging content and schedule as needed
  • Builds, tests, and runs queries and recipient lists for email, text, and direct mail campaigns
  • Edits and formats photos, videos, and other media for the web, email, and social campaigns
  • Designs, edits, and reviews various presentations used for virtual and in-person recruiting events for the admission and financial aid teams
  • Collaborates with colleagues in the Office of Marketing and Communications regarding web content, social media, graphic design, print production, and photography/video
  • Communicates with third-party vendors to fulfill print mailings on behalf of the University
  • Assists in the development of integrated, large-scale, long-term recruitment/marketing campaigns
  • Solicits competitive vendor bids: print, photography, promotional items, mailing services. Interacts with outside vendors to schedule deliverables. Orders and inspects materials from print vendors

Social Media Management
  • Responsible for writing, editing, and distributing content to prospective Loyola students and their families via the Admission social media platforms of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, ZeeMee, and future platforms as needed. Focuses on creating and curating content that is compelling and engaging in both written and visual formats; staying up to date with social media trends; providing live coverage of campus events on various social media platforms, and collaborating with social media managers of Loyola’s main accounts
  • Develops social media strategies to increase engagement with prospective students in alignment with Loyola’s brand guidelines
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the social media sites, including publishing, monitoring, and answering comments and direct messages in a timely manner
  • Creates and manages an annual social media editorial and content calendar and generates monthly reports to monitor the effectiveness and engagement of organic social campaigns.
  • Responsible for timely reporting on key engagement analytics of content and campaigns throughout the admission cycle
  • Manages Admission social media team of counselors and student interns and hosts weekly social media meetings

Marketing Vendor & Student Intern Management
  • Manage relationships with external marketing vendors for the enrollment division, including various online lead-generating platforms: Mainstay Web bot, ZeeMee social media platform, Vidyard, YouVisit, Hobsons, etc.
  • In addition, this position will also hire, train, and manage various student content creator interns for video production and social media

Operations & Inventory Management
  • Assists in managing third-party vendors responsible for Undergraduate Admission recruitment inventory
  • Ensures that adequate levels of inventory are established and maintained to support outgoing communications and travel needs
  • Coordinates the timely delivery of recruitment materials for traveling recruitment staff.
  • Assists with various operations and print fulfillment needs relating to communication projects based on the admission cycle
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in content writing, marketing, communications, advertising, or related field
Prior admission/enrollment management experience preferred
Proven work experience as a content editor, web editor, or similar role
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Strong content knowledge and skills for communicating through multiple channels and digital platforms
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and video editing software
Experience with using a style guide (AP Style, institutional/in-house style guide)
Ability to review data and analytics to provide strategic recommendations based on roles and responsibilities, goals established by the director
Experience collaborating with creative teams consisting of graphic and web designers, management, student content creators, and others
Familiarity with SEO and keyword research
Highly detail and results-oriented
A self-starter with strong execution and follow up skills
Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
Superior time-management skills and ability to manage deadlines
Ability to work independently, meet challenging deadlines and handle multiple projects
Knowledge of and commitment to Loyola’s mission as a Jesuit, Catholic institution of higher education
Willingness to travel occasionally to industry conferences and other events
Willingness to support other Loyola events which may require occasional evening or weekend hours
Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
