ROLE of the POSITION
The Office of Online Education welcomes applications for the Assistant Director of the Teaching and Learning Commons (TLC). This position serves as second in charge under the Faculty Director position in the newly formed Commons. This position entails substantial managerial responsibility, as it will represent the TLC when the Director is unavailable and acquires duties in their absence to ensure program effectiveness and continued workflow. It also supervises the administrative assistant of the TLC. The new TLC establishes a unit to elevate the importance of relationship-rich, equitable education that promotes student success.
The Assistant Director is a professional-level position for coordination and management of the TLC as a campus resource hub in collaboration with the Director of the TLC and other campus partners. The Assistant Director develops and offers flexible and responsive programming to UNLV instructors and students, including workshops, communities of practice and asynchronous resources. The Assistant Director remains up-to-date on research into current and emerging best practices in teaching, learning, and professional development. The Assistant Director plays a key role in the development of a university campus culture that embraces relationship rich education and strives to eliminate achievement gaps among UNLV constituent populations involved in teaching and learning practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3-5 years professional work experience related to teaching and/or professional development for teaching. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years experience with Instructional Technology tools and their use in teaching and learning, co-curricular and professional development microcredentials, and teaching theory and practice.
- 1-3 years supervisory experience
- 1-3 years management experience

- Applying analytical and critical thinking skills as well as draw conclusions and prepare accurate reports of results
