The mission of the Reves Center for International Studies is to support and promote the internationalization of learning, teaching, research, and community engagement at the William & Mary. We do this through programs for education abroad, international students and scholars, and global engagement across the university.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Global Education takes lead on all efforts for W&M A&S faculty-led summer programs. Focus of the position includes:
  • Responsible for coordination of duties for all GEO Advisors working on summer programs.
  • Assists in strategic planning for W&M A&S summer programming.
  • Manage and Streamline study abroad processes for W&M A&S summer study abroad programs.
  • Provide support to all W&M A&S summer programs and enrollment management.
  • Planning and logistics in collaboration with faculty program directors for select portfolio of summer faculty-led programs.
  • Active role in GEO promotion and recruitment efforts.

Conditions of Employment
• Some weekend and evening work is required.
• Occasional travel is also necessary to carry out the duties of this position.
• This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, to include occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
• This is a restricted position subject to availability of funding.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in education, public administration, intercultural program management, or a related discipline OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience at a level which equates to an advanced degree.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience in higher education and with study abroad/global education programs, including budgets, policy and procedures, and program management
  • Experience managing or assisting in logistical support for faculty-led programs or analogous types of programs.
  • Experience working with students, including student program management, student-advising, and/or student outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize exceptional planning and organization skills and the ability to management multiple tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment, to carry out assignments in a timely manner, use initiative, apply discretion and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in budget management and development, including experience budgeting with multiple currencies.
  • Experience with Studio Abroad/Terra Dotta software.
  • Knowledge of and experience with cross-cultural issues
  • Fluency in at least one language in addition to English.
  • International study or work experience.
  • Previous experience in a widely diverse work, community or volunteer environment which demonstrates interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Previous experience working directly with faculty-led programming in higher education is also preferred.

Advertised Pay Range $60,000-$62,500

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
