Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):  
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience working in a collegiate or professional Athletic Communications, Sports Information, Media Relations, Sports Journalism and/or Marketing & Promotions environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Prior experience with multi-media platforms. Experience in a Division I Athletics program. Experience in athletic game operations as it relates to PR/Communications/Media/etc. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with general graphic design principles, typography, and color theory as well as production process for print and digital media. Experience with Ross Carbonite, NewTek TriCaster, Blue Frame Production Truck, Ross XPression, 3Play, or DVSport.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director of Creative Services and Broadcast Operations will lead in the management of the Stony Brook University Athletics brand and serve as a main collaborator for the department's digital, video, and graphic content. This position is responsible to provide oversight of the department's visual identity and reinforce a consistent brand for the University and execute the productions of live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics. The Assistant Director will work closely with external staff to establish the design and content for electronic communications, athletic marketing and ticket sales initiatives, and development campaigns. Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director of Athletics and Director of Athletics.
Duties:

  • Digital Media/Broadcast Content:
    • Develop and design the department graphic templates that can be used by communications staff throughout the year in support of our team's revenue, recruiting and recognition efforts.
    • Plan, strategize and execute the venue video boards and live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics, including all linear tv games and streamed broadcasts. 
    • Work closely with the staff to run the production room before, during and after live productions which may include directing, technical directing and operation of replay and graphic machines.
    • Work closely with the Office of Strategic Communications for graphic design, video creation and documentation during the year.
    • Convert all the video and graphic creatives onto the University's Digital Asset Management software system. 
    • Work in concert with external leadership team and Deputy Director of Athletics to develop and execute brand identity for Stony Brook Athletics.
    • Implement the graphic "look" for Stony Brook Athletics for all intercollegiate sports for use in recruiting, revenue generation and recognition efforts. Create and implement in the development of graphic templates that communications staff can use in daily activity.
    • Execute the department's video initiatives. 
    • Manage the hiring and education of student interns for game day and daily workflow within the Athletic Communication department. 
  • Gameday:
    • Serve as the key member of the staff who will execute all gameday graphic, video, and digital strategy in support of our 18 intercollegiate sports. Manage the training and mentoring of the Athletic student assistants/interns and volunteers. 
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
