Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Recreational Sports, under direction, assists in overseeing the administration and organization of a comprehensive recreational sports program unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and manage a comprehensive Sports Club program.
Develop a Sport Club Council made up of students and staff to develop and govern the policies and budget within this area.
Recruit and assist students in developing officially sanctioned sport clubs.
Advise those sport clubs that further the mission of the department.
Assist club leaders with planning, scheduling, and administering all club events.
Oversee budget allocations, fundraising, and policy/procedure adherence.
Develop and coordinate a streamlined process for travel arrangements of all sport clubs. This will require collaboration with Dean of Students, Travel, and Student Organizations.
Create a leadership institute for current and up-and-coming club officers.
Maintain records of all sport clubs’ activities, discipline, and participation.
Assist in planning and execution of all sport club home events.
Plan, organize, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive intramural program.
Schedule all intramural contests and coordinate programs to completion.
Recruit, train, and manage student staff and officials and further promote an environment of diversity and inclusivity.
Determine policies regarding eligibility, scheduling, and registration.
Purchase all intramural equipment and maintain inventory.
Coordinate the scheduling and maintenance of all intramural facilities.
Develop all policies, procedures, and sport specific rules related to intramurals.
Maintain records of standings, sportsmanship, and participation rates.
Oversee the discipline of all participants, including addressing sportsmanship, ejections, appeals, and game protest issues.
Develop, manage, and evaluate Esports programs.
This is one of Rec. Sports emerging program areas and will require complete architecture, infrastructure, and stakeholder consensus from the ground up.
Esports will span the range of leagues, tournaments, one-day events, and platforms.
Manage and staff operations of a gaming lounge.
Collaborate with campus partners engaged in this initiative.
Recruit, manage, and develop Graduate Assistant.
Recruit and select qualified candidates for the graduate assistantship within Competitive Sports.
Leverage experiences and tasks within area to assist in their development and prepare them for potential careers in campus recreation.
Provide written and verbal feedback for performance, professional documents, and mock interviews.
Other areas as assigned.
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plan to promote programs, clinics, and staffing positions.
This position requires management of evening and weekend programs as well as a reasonable amount of travel.
Manage software such as Fusion, IM Leagues, or other related applications.
Serve as primary risk manager for areas of oversight.
Work with campus partners to develop campus wide relationships and initiatives, as well as policies and procedures. Serve on committees as assigned.
Identify and develop revenue generating initiatives that assist in the facilitation of student-focused programs.
Represents the department at University functions in the absence of the Director, including orientation programs and information fairs, to increase awareness of services and programs.

Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Sports Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – Six years of related experience.
Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of recreation program management.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
