Job Description

The Assistant Director’s primary responsibility will be to manage the implementation and coordination of all projects and activities within the Institute for Advanced Health through Agriculture. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director and the Associate Directors to coordinate scheduling and communicate on the their behalf. The position will have an immediate impact on office productivity by streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing project management, and communicating objectives between the Institute and internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Project management (80% effort)  


  • Oversee strategic initiatives from development through successful execution under general guidance from the Director and Associate Directors 
  • Assist Institute leadership in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.  
  • Review, design, and execute on improvements to internal operations.  
  • Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity across hubs.  
  • Serve as a point of contact between executive leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Ensure leadership is completing tasks in a timely manner.  
  • Take on special projects as assigned, ensuring timely progress and completion.  

Administrative (20% effort)  


  • Supervise office staff (e.g. Executive Assistant and Business staff) 
  • Attend administrative meetings to ensure follow-up  
  • Communicate with Administrative Services and others (e.g. System personnel) on behalf of the Institute Director and Associate Directors 
  • Assist staff with preparation of communications (memos, acknowledgement notes/letters, etc.) 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:
-At least a Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
-Six years of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

-10 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Proven record in successfully managing complex projects, especially executive-level project management and cross-functional collaborations. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively. 
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Proven experience organizing and directing cross-functional teams.   
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives . 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely. 
  • Ability to travel.
