Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Admissions, under direction, assists the director with initiatives and objectives. Performs moderately complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in operations and planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes plans and programs designed to increase outreach and recruitment of students.

  • Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates policies and procedures and monitors compliance with policies and procedures.  Assists with establishing goals and objectives. Tracks/extracts data and develops reports.

  • Participates and assists in the planning of recruitment and outreach activities.

  • Supervises and trains employees and student workers.

  • Welcomes visitors to campus and assists with appointments and tours.

  • Builds strong relationships with high school counselors and prospective freshmen/transfers.

  • Assists with development and implementation of communication flows to parents and prospective students.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee transfer pathways and credit articulation with community colleges.

  • Support the institution's transfer student initiatives.

  • Maintain the transfer course equivalency process. Collaborate with the Registrar’s Office in assisting with reviewing and updating TCCNS, 2+2 plans, degree plan worksheets, transfer guides, course equivalency charts, transfer related software, programs and projects.  

  • Coordinate outreach efforts with community colleges and universities.

  • Organized meetings with internal and external academic partners to review objectives that align with the academic curriculum and meet transferability criteria.

  • Coordinate training and development with transfer-related systems to other offices.

  • Maintain articulation agreements and ensure accuracy and currency.

  • Assist the Director in managing and processing undergraduate admissions processes, residency determinations, transfer course equivalencies, and new transfer academic advising.

  • Disseminate undergraduate admissions information to prospective students and visitors. Advises prospective students about admissions and registration requirements, academic programs, support services, and federal, state, and university policies/procedures. Assist students throughout the application process for record completion and registration.

  • Assist with complex issues in the absence of Director. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.

  • Experience – Six years of related experience including at least one year of supervisory experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • College fair programs. 

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong presentation skills.  

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Work experience with an institution of Higher Education

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Licensing / Professional CertificationNone.

Salary: $53,352.00/annual
