Description of Work Unit
The C. Wayne McIlwraith Translational Medicine Institute (TMI) is operated under the Department of Clinical Science (College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences) at Colorado State University (CSU). The Institute provides a safe, secure, state-of-the-art facility for faculty, scientists and staff for collaborative efforts in the area of research, entrepreneurial business development and continuing medical education aligned to the institute’s mission and vision. The TMI is a 130,000 sq. ft. building that opened in December 2018. 
TMI Mission – Create novel biologic therapies and learning opportunities uniquely focused on improving the lives of both animals and humans by fostering diverse collaborations of leading scientific minds in a state-of-the-art facility that encourages entrepreneurial models that optimize innovation timelines.
The CSUVetCE team @ TMI seeks to provide an unparalleled continuing education (CE) experience every day; something that we refer to as “CE Elevated”. We believe that people, animals and the planet can be improved when inspired learners, engaged educators and relevant learning experiences collide; that is the purpose, the passion and the why behind our quest to provide CE Elevated experiences each day.
Our team is comprised of 3 pillars of stakeholder experience: 1) Overall onsite CE program experience, 2) CE laboratory experience and 3) the online experience. We host up to 75+ onsite, hands-on CE courses per year. As it pertains to this online pillar position, all of these courses require time-sensitive loading of some registrant-accessible content (course notes, supportive reference materials, course surveys, CE certificates, etc.) into our LMS. In addition, we have a small, but growing library of online CE course content that requires registrant access to innovative educational materials including recorded lectures, videos, interactive exercises and quizzes). Growth of the online course library and integration of it with our greater CE course menu is an area of strategic emphasis. Some of our onsite courses utilize the online course content as required pre-requisites. Our CE courses include a wide variety of small animal, equine and human medical courses to graduate veterinarians, certified technicians and medical professionals throughout the year. Each of our publicly facing courses is published on our website including a compelling course description, video promo / course invitation, course agenda, faculty, sponsorship, pricing information and registration access. 
We work with our AV and communications teams to develop marketing materials for inclusion on our website and distribution through various channels including social media, email blasts, listservs, and our course sponsors. We are a small, but rapidly growing group and now is a great time to jump aboard the CSUVetCE team for the right person. In our busy times, our team can have a series of 7-day work weeks; the responsibilities for which we work as team to distribute amongst ourselves.

Position Summary
Position is responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Continuing Education program at the Translational Medicine Institute. The position will be responsible for assisting the CE Coordinator in all aspects CE program execution including frequent, timely, courteous and efficient communication with internal (other members of the CE team and TMI community) and external stakeholders (course participants, instructors, sponsor/vendors, etc.). In brief, the CE Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator set the tone for all aspects of the internal and external CE Elevated experience. 
Additionally, this position will assist the CE Coordinator in development/management/reporting of individual budgets for onsite CE courses; identifying potential vendors/comparing and selecting vendors; conference contract negotiations; logistics/planning/scheduling of instructional sessions and event coordination.
This position will collaborate with the TMI Communications and Outreach team in the marketing of CE Courses.
Hours: Full-time position that may require shifts beyond normal business hours and on weekends; Non-business hour responsibilities are shared amongst CE team members
Position Minimum Qualifications
· Experience in event planning and/or facility coordination
· Experience of troubleshooting problems and providing customer/stakeholder support
· Keen eye for detail and ability to carry out tasks efficiently
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
· Outstanding team and interpersonal skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Zoom.
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start dates; TMI will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Education or closely related field.
· Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple work projects and types of activities while meeting deadlines (i.e., project management)
· Experience working in academia
· Experience in veterinary continuing education
· Experience developing and managing project budgets
· Experience with project management software such as SmartSheets, Asana, Wrike, etc.

Support and assist the CE Coordinator’s efforts to:
· Collaborate with CE instructors and vendors to develop CE courses that address real and relevant medical (veterinary and human health care) training needs.
· Draft CE course budgets that permit assessment of course financial viability
· Communicate and manage the logistics of CE course development (course descriptions and agenda, teaching faculty, course scheduling, course notes & other content, vendor in-kind support, sponsor negotiations, etc.)
· Support stakeholders (CE participant, instructor, vendor) before, during and after CE events to ensure delivery of a CE Elevated experience
· Support your CE teammates and TMI community members in their various roles in delivery of the same overall goals.
