New Position to Begin TBD
Details
The Department of Nutrition and Integrated Physiology (NUIP) in coordination with the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI) at the University of Utah seek talented faculty members at the rank of Assistant, or Associate Professor on the Tenure Track. We seek individuals with basic or early translational research programs directly related to the intersection of metabolism with cardiovascular biology. Successful candidates will have an outstanding record of research productivity related to discovering the metabolic underpinnings of chronic cardiovascular diseases.
Applicants across the cardiovascular translational research spectrum will be considered including researchers using molecular, biochemical, genetic, physiological, or epidemiological approaches. Primary academic appointments will be in the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology with Investigator status at the CVRTI. The successful candidate will develop an independent, extramurally-funded research program run out of laboratory facilities at the CVRTI– a freestanding institute housing the country’s largest interdisciplinary grouping of cardiac myocyte biology, electrophysiology, and metabolism investigators. Additional membership to the University of Utah’s Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center will be granted, helping the faculty appointee to foster an interdisciplinary research program relating to metabolic health.
Some teaching, mainly at the graduate student level, will be expected. Membership in graduate programs, ongoing partial salary support and generous start-up and annual opportunities for foundation funding will be provided. The CVRTI organizes funding support for its Investigators in proportion to extramural grant success. A Ph.D., M.D., or M.D., Ph.D., and a robust independent research program are required.
