Details
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level in the metallurgical processing/engineering area, including all aspects of extractive and physical metallurgy, for which a Ph.D. degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science and engineering, or an allied field is required.
Desired attributes for the position include the ability to:
• Establish a strong, sustainable, externally funded research group
• Provide high quality, effective teaching of metallurgical processing relevant courses
• Communicate well with students, colleagues, industry, and government personnel
The successful candidate will assist the Department in expanding its reach and impact in metallurgical processing/engineering area in the State of Utah, nationally, and globally through world-class education and research. Additional Qualification Considerations
In connection with this position, exceptional applicants with a high level of research productivity in metallurgical processing may also be considered for appointment as the Ivor Thomas Presidential Endowed Chair in metallurgical engineering as well as for an appointment at the rank of professor.
