About the Job

Annual Donor Officer (ADO) is an exempt, full-time position within University Advancement at Colorado Christian University (CCU). Supervised by the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations and working collegially with the members of the Advancement Team.
The ADO is responsible for growing the pipeline of annual donors and the retention of past donors and lapsed donors (SYBUNTs & LYBUNTs). The ADO facilitates direct mail and electronic fundraising projects that falls in line with the overall fundraising strategy for the Advancement Department. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of donors, researching and discovering prospective donors, face-to-face donor proposals, presentations, and prescribed activities related to cultivating, tracking and soliciting of annual donors toward individual donations (gifts).
The ideal candidate will effort to cumulatively raise $1,000,000 annually in within our CCU Fund and Hope Fund. The ADO will focus on CCU’s University Partners’ giving society (annual donors of $2,500 and above). This will include upgrading support, and strengthening relationships with current donors. The ADO will also manage our annual “Gives Day” online event, and any other crowdfunding or digital campaigns as appropriate.

  • We’re looking for candidates who have:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two or more years of non-profit fundraising or marketing experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate with donors and understand their needs and interests in order to develop, strengthen, and maintain relationships.
  • Understanding of written and digital appeals, crowdfunding, social media, and text-to-give avenues for donors.
  • Microsoft Office and database Customer Relationship Management (CRM) management skills (ex. Raiser’s Edge, SalesForce, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to participate in all aspects of the giving cycle.
  • Administrative management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal discernment and effective written and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and a sense for design.
  • Ability to function well under pressure of deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starting capabilities and regularly sets and achieves work and project goals.
  • Key Job Duties
  • Contribute to CCU’s mission: Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the ADO contributes to the mission by raising monies to support student scholarships and offset the cost of Christian higher education so that students are able to impact the world with grace and truth.
  • Prescribe annual fundraising revenue goals for fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation, and portfolio management.
  • Attend to all prescribed database practices and established systems, i.e., contact reports, weekly donor reports, and Raiser’s Edge access and operation(s).
  • Help identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and potential major donors and donors of planned and legacy giving opportunities.
  • Operate a defined, assigned, and strategic donor portfolio. This includes employing face-to-face cultivation and discovery methods for building a successful donor base.
  • Create and maintain annual funds with an annual projection to raise $1,000,000 for all unrestricted annual gifts.
  • Frequent (10%) donor travel appointments and cultivation opportunities required by the person’s portfolio, prospect research, and assigned by the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. Some trips may be outside the State of Colorado.
  • Manage CCU’s University Partners giving society and CCU’s “Gives Day” event.
  • Attend and participate in assigned University Advancement events, meetings, and strategic opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work Environment
    While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. The pay range for this job is $50,000 - $60,000 annually. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations.     Spiritual Requirements

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  • Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  • Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  • Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
