The Manager plays a vital role in supporting the mission and growth of the Barry Law network through engaging with alumni to establish relationships and determine prospective strategic partnerships. The Manager is responsible for devising and implementing the University’s strategy for fostering excellent alumni relations that will build and strengthen relationships between the University and its community of graduates in order to maximize alumni and donor interest in, and engagement with the University.

Build and establish a plan and targeted prospect list for alumni partnerships. Cultivate the relationship through visits, phone calls, emails and social media interaction in garnering support and sponsorships for the Law School. In addition, catalogue and coordinate all sponsorships already provided by Barry Law.

To be responsible for developing and implementing the University’s Alumni Relations strategy through:

  • Alumni communication and publicity targeted at alumni;
  • Events and activities that attract and involve alumni;
  • Encourage and support other departments in undertaking events and communications which will promote good alumni relations;
  • Identify opportunities for alumni engagement on campus and at events, and building pipelines for engagement of new alumni.

Assist Marketing in discovering and promoting Barry Law students, faculty, programs, and activities to alumni partners. Create clear messaging regarding benefits of a strategic alliance.

Alumni Engagement Related Duties:

  • In consultation with the Dean, develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs and projects to promote alumni relations and educational programs designed to connect alums through academic channels at the law school, including but not limited to guest lecturing, volunteer opportunities, mentorship, etc.
  • In consultation with the Dean, plan, coordinate, and attends events, meetings, or other activities to build relationships with the alumni community (for example alumni and volunteer recognition banquets, receptions, and reunions).
  • In coordination with the communications team, develop and execute an external communications plan, which may include alumni-focused newsletters, thought leadership pieces, speaking opportunities, and social media outreach.
  • Conduct occasional face-to-face meetings to cultivate and solicit support to meet law school fundraising priorities and goals. Identify, cultivate, and solicit philanthropic support by developing and maintaining relationships with alumni and other potential donors to the law school.
  • Lead the development and implementation of annual giving strategies, activities, and timelines to solicit contributions from alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and other constituents for annual gifts.
  • Meet with Alumni Chapter President to determine goals for the current year.
  • Track donations received by or for Law School.
  • Generate forms to process donations into internal CRM database software and to create acknowledgment letters.
  • Request mailing list for Barry Law Magazine from Florida Bar
  • Create an alumnus mailing list for Barry Law Magazine from the alumni database
  • Provide information on alumni for the “Alumni Today” section of Barry Law Magazine
  • Coordinate quarterly meeting dates with all board members
  • Assist the dean(s) in the creation of the agenda for each meeting and keep all board records.
  • Assist in alumni engagement by coordinating and implementing events.
  • Implementing programs to maintain and promote alumni interest and support.
  • Meet established goals and objectives for the department and University.
  • Coordinate programs and implementing fundraising events.
  • Determine and implement strategies for strengthening alumni participation and support.
  • Assist with preparation of grants and proposals, as needed or assigned.
  • Liaison with the Dean others in the University to ensure that there is effective communication with senior colleagues on matters relating to alumni events, alumni activities, web and email communication, etc.


Educational/Experiential Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree – Field of study: Hospitality or related field

Experience

3-5 years of related experience
