Who we are

The Texas A&M AggieSTEM Program is looking for enthusiastic, problem-solving individuals to serve as counselors for our 2024 AggieSTEM Summer Camps (ASSC). ASSC provides 3rd-12th grade students with real-world STEM experiences and STEM education under the guidance of world-class Texas A&M University professors in STEM fields. Our camp counselors are essential to our mission to help familiarize our students with Texas A&M University’s rigorous academics.

What we want

We're seeking individuals with a passion for STEM to serve as AggieSTEM Summer Camp-Camp Counselors.The Camp Counselors, at the direction of the Camp Director(s), provide instruction, demonstration, and assistance to campers as they adhere to high standards and serve as role models for our campers. The AggieSTEM summer camp is conducted annually during the months of June and July. The Camp Counselors will work with the students registered for camp during the multiple weeks of the summer camp. We are currently offering day and night counselor positions. Employment with AggieSTEM Summer Camps is dependent upon the number of campers registered for each session. Both day and night counselors are expected to fully participate in all aspects of camp life.

Compensation: $13.00/hourly

Position Details: Ability to be flexible and/or open availability for the month of June. Ability to participate in all aspects of camp life.  We are currently offering day and night counselor positions.

• Night Counselors will be required to stay on-site with campers overnight in the dorm rooms provided.

• Day Counselors are expected to have their own housing. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of STEM related experience or High School STEM related classes (courses in Science, Technology, Engineering &/or Mathematics).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to follow directions, multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Essential Duties/Tasks:

• Provides instruction, demonstration, and assistance to campers at the direction of the Camp Director(s),
• Adheres to high standards and serves as a role model for our campers and participates in all aspects of camp life
• Day Counselors will assist instructors on campus during the day and will be responsible for keeping campers on-task and engaged during lessons, panels, and lab tours.
• Night Counselors will look after campers in the evening during extracurricular activities and will be on-call overnight.

June 3-7, 2024     Elementary and Middle Day Camps Only

June 10-14, 2024 All 5 Camps (3 residential and 2 Day camps)

June 17-21, 2024 All 5 Camps (3 residential and 2 Day camps)

June 24-28, 2024   Elementary and Middle Day Camps Only

July 1-5, 2024   Elementary and Middle Day Camps Only

July 8-12, 2024 Only Residential

July 15-19, 2024 Only Residential
