The Opportunity:

The Admissions Specialist I position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping UCF's recruitment and enrollment strategy by providing prospective students and families with an exceptional introduction to the campus, its people and its world-class programs and services. Reporting to the Assistant Director, University Admissions and under the leadership of the Director for Strategic Communications & Visitor Engagement in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, this position plays a pivotal role in enhancing UCF's recruitment efforts by providing counseling and support to prospective students and families and assisting with day-to-day operations in the University Welcome Center and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for higher education, a commitment to student success, and a creative approach to engaging prospective students and families. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the Visitor Engagement Team tasked with providing 500+ annual campus tours to 50,000+ guests each year. Assists with the planning and logistics of campus tours for individual visitors, school groups and community organizations. Provides informative in-person and virtual campus visit experiences to groups and meets individually with families on a range of topics, including admission requirements, application processing, admission status, departmental and university policies, campus resources, events, and directions. Assists with event planning for prospective students.

  • Assists in the supervision of student workers at the Welcome Center front desk. Provides exceptional customer service to visitors at the Welcome Center and offers triage support to the front desk as needed. Helps to maintain a welcoming, safe and organized environment at the Welcome Center, ensuring that informational materials and resources are readily available. 

  • Responds to phone calls, email and other correspondence from prospective students, families, school counselors and community members. Researches questions and refers inquiries to the appropriate university office when necessary.

  • Reviews and evaluates applications and academic credentials for first-year and transfer students and renders admission decisions in compliance with State of Florida and university admission standards.

  • May represent the university at public and private high school and college visits, fairs, decision days, panel presentations and area receptions.  

  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, University Admissions, Manager – Marketing Communications, Director for Communications and Visitor Engagement or their designee. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information .
  • Additionally, degree-seeking candidates in the final semester may apply, with the understanding that the degree must be conferred by the start date of employment.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in university admissions, recruitment, event planning, or customer service setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms is a plus.
