The Office of Admissions is seeking an Admissions Counselor II who will operate as a member of the Aggieland Admissions Center (AAC) to advise undergraduate prospective students. We need an individual who will support our commitment to customer service with both internal and external constituents including but not limited to prospective students, parents, and campus partners. The successful candidate enjoys leading initiatives and has a positive attitude. Time management, flexibility, and the ability to work as a motivated self-starter are all crucial for success in this position. The ideal candidate will be a highly dependable, versatile, and creative professional who will enthusiastically promote the mission of the AAC. What you need to know 

Salary: $3,572.40 monthly

Cover Letter & Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.

Position Details: Ability to lift or move light to medium weight program materials. Extensive travel may be required. Evenings and weekend work may be required.

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One year of advising, recruiting or related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Organization skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:  

  • Master's Degree.
  • Working experience with youth populations, admissions, recruitment, or higher education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • A Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities:  

  • Advising/Counseling - Counsels and advises prospective students about admissions requirements, policies, application status and office programs via one-on-one advising appointments, phone calls, emails and mail. Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, appeals, and options for admissions denials. Maintains records of these activities. Establishes working relationships with university departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
  • General Admissions - Maintains a high-level working knowledge of admissions and university information, organizations, opportunities, and policies. Disseminates admissions information through participation in special programs, and other assigned appointments. Represents the Office of Admissions in public speaking capacity both on and off campus to interested groups. Maintains records of these activities. Uses AIS, Compass/Banner, Slate, and TAMUDocs to enter student information.
  • Liaison – Acts as liaison for the Aggieland Admissions Center by serving on multiple committees within Admissions and across campus as the need arises. Will be representing the AAC by attending and contributing to Office of Admissions growth as well as university needs along with other campus partners. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School Recruitment – Assists in admission presentations/information at various high school programs. Serves as the backup recruiter for transfer admissions presentation and programs.
