About the Department
Integrative physiology, on the other hand, embraces the concepts of cell/molecular physiology, biochemistry and applies these concepts and experimental approaches to understand the function at the level of whole animal or organ. Realizing its importance, the University of Chicago established the Institute for Integrative Physiology (IIP) at the Biological Sciences Division as of October 2010. The main missions of IIP are to provide intellectual home for faculty members interested in various areas of Physiology to foster interactive research programs and oversee physiology education to medical, graduate and undergraduate students.
Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Assists with creation of special projects, lectures and academic writing.
- Prepares, reviews and assists in the production of various externally focused brochures and reports needed by the Director and Center faculty.
- Orders supplies.
- Processes reimbursements for all travel, purchases, etc.
- Maintains the calendars of the faculty members in the Center.
- Ensures that equipment is working properly, and interacts with external vendors to support needs of the Center.
- Organizes events, conferences, talks, symposia, etc.
- Assists with time and attendance approvals for the research staff.
- Provides administrative support for a leader. Stays informed of activities relating to programs and initiatives, apprising the leader of issues when deemed necessary. Coordinates information flow from leader's office.
- May initiate correspondence and other written materials under own signature or for signature of the leader. Triages emails and telephone calls for action. Resolves a combination of some routine and complex inquiries.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).---

Working Conditions
- This is a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week.
