Position Summary

UNM Neurology seeks an Administrative Coordinator to work with our Medical Practice Team. This position is a key position in the success of the department in supporting our leadership, faculty, and providers by managing the medical credentialing process and acting as a liaison with the Hospital Medical Staff Affairs Office and other internal and external entities involved in the credentialing process. Neurology is a multi-faceted academic clinical department in the UNM School of Medicine, that has continued to expand and grow and offer its employees opportunities for professional development and advancement. Neurology supports a hybrid work schedule (after training is completed) with two to three days of working in the department and the remainder working remotely.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the initial and reappointing credentialing for all Neurology providers.
  • Provides day-to-day advice, assistance, and follow-up to leadership and providers regarding specified policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Develops, expedites, and maintains files, records, and other documents related to credentialing, privileging, billing applications, licensing, and evaluations.
  • Ensures efficiency and transparency and maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, policies and processes, and new technologies pertaining to medical credentialing, tele credentialing, licensing, and evaluations.
  • Serves as Liaison with internal and external constituencies pertaining to medical credentialing.
  • Generates reports and maintain data and files pertaining to all tasks assigned.
  • Acts as backup to the Neurology scheduler to assist faculty with questions or inquiries regarding schedules, leave, and navigating the scheduling software.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service and coordination skills
  • Ability to prepare documents, research solutions, and compose correspondence
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Word
  • Skills in prioritizing multiple projects and tracking progress
  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written
