SUMMARY:

The Administrative Coordinator I, under general supervision, provides complex administrative support to include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the planning and execution of administrative operations for the College of Innovation and Design Academic Programs.
  • Serves as the office manager:  monitors, develops, evaluates, and ensures adherence to all System and Campus policies and procedures.  Coordinates the maintenance of files, records, office supplies, and equipment.  
  • Provides complex administrative support for the Assistant Dean.
  • Provides administrative support for College of Innovation and Design Faculty, Staff, and Student Workers.
  • Coordinates travel arrangements and prepares itineraries.
  • Coordinates meetings, seminars, academic, career-related events, and other special events for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and internal and external campus partners and provides on-site support.
  • Coordinates and completes assignments from the Assistant Dean relating to the operation of College of Innovation and Design Academic Programs.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills:  Two years of related experience.  Planning and organization skills.  Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.  Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with others.  Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Other Requirements:  Primary work location is A&M-Commerce at Dallas; may occasionally be required to perform work at other campus locations.  This position is not authorized for online or work from home arrangements.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Degree preferred.  Proficiency with standard A&M-Commerce administrative tools such as FAMIS, Canopy, ManeMarket, etc.  Experience in higher education.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

May supervise student workers and/or graduate assistants.
