Job Description

Works under general supervision and provides complex administrative support work to the Northwest Houston Center (NWHC). The Northwest Houston Center is located at 9449 Grant Road, Houston, TX 77070.

The Northwest Houston Center hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am - 9:00 pm: Friday and Saturday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  

This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director and Associate Director in planning and executing strategic initiatives and enhancing support services at the NWHC.  

  • Support and assist in developing programs and activities/events and creating and improving communication efforts (including social media) at the NWHC.

  • Provide customer service to faculty, graduate students, and guest by responding to calls and greeting guests at the front desk during all assigned shifts.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding space, programs, classes, events etc.

  • Assist in creating and disseminating program-related information.

  • Verify and certify university assets according to university procurement guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule, evenings and weekend based on the hours of operations for the NWHC.
