SUMMARY:

The person for this position should have demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other backgrounds, and is responsible for the operation of the office of the Department. The person will maintain records, prepare reports, compose letters and memoranda, understand and follow oral and written instructions, assign and supervise other office workers, and make minor decisions in accordance with departmental and university regulations. This person will provide administrative support to the department and faculty. The normal work hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on week days with one hour lunch time. May work on weekends occasionally with comp time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Three years of related experience with good knowledge and skills of typing, business communications, spelling, punctuation, and office procedures; Experience with use of Microsoft Office. Excellent oral and written communication skills and sensitivity to issues related to a varied student body are required. Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Familiarity with office applications software, preferably Microsoft Office, is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Four years of related experience. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
