Hofstra University’s Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach the following two courses in Art History in Fall 2022:
Art from Caves to Cathedrals (T,Th 11:20am-12:45pm). Survey of art from its prehistoric antecedents to the year 1300, with an emphasis on how political and religious beliefs influenced the forms and styles of architecture, sculpture and painting.
Asian Art and Archaeology (T,Th 2:40-4:05pm). Art forms of India, China and Japan with reference to philosophical, religious and social influences from the prehistoric through the 19th century. Architecture, sculpture, painting and ceramics are analyzed; themes, styles and techniques distinctive of the art tradition of each country are stressed.
