Job Description

The Department of Criminology and Political Science at Texas A&M University—San Antonio is seeking to hire a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Political Science. Expertise is open. Applicants must have at least 1 year of university teaching experience and the ability to teach courses in person. Appointment will begin in Spring 2024. Continuation depends on course availability.

This is an adjunct position, requiring only teaching. Courses could be offered during daytime hours or evenings, based on departmental needs. Most courses needed are offered in person.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Political Science or related field from an accredited university

  • At least one (1) year of university teaching experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree in Political Science or related field from an accredited university

  • Relevant practitioner experience

  • Experience teaching a range of courses in political science (upper and lower division)

  • At least three (3) years of university teaching experience

  • Familiarity with the Blackboard Learning Management System

  • Record of teaching excellence

Finalists will be required to provide two current, original letters of recommendation to the Search Committee Chair via email (sent directly from the recommender), or at the address listed below. The letters should be less than one year old and should bear the writer's actual signature. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution by the Office of Academic Affairs, TAMU-SA, One University Way, San Antonio, TX 78224. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcript translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator.

Selected candidates must pass a pre-employment background investigation to be hired for this position.
