Job Description

A&M-SA is a comprehensive university with over 7,300 students (Fall 2023) enrolled in undergraduate programs and graduate programs. The successful candidate will join this rapidly growing Hispanic-Serving Institution.

Part of the statewide Texas A&M University System, A&M-SA is located on San Antonio’s Southside. Self-reported demographic data indicate 73% of students are the first generation in their family to attend college, 77% are Hispanic, and 65.7% are women. The faculty and staff are working to implement data-driven and high-impact practices in teaching and learning that lead to student persistence and college completion. It seeks faculty who are committed to this vision, are willing to innovate and experiment and create a national model for student success.

Texas A&M University-San Antonio seeks part-time faculty for the Fall 2024 semester. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses in English Composition, Technical Writing, and/or Integrated Reading and Writing based on academic qualifications. The number of available courses and positions will depend on departmental needs.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in English, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution

  • A minimum of 18 graduate hours in English or related field

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in English or related field preferred

  • A minimum of one (1) year of college or university teaching experience

  • Experience teaching composition, technical writing, and/or integrated reading and writing

  • Experience teaching non-traditional, first-generation students

  • Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as e-portfolios

Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution by the Office of the Dean, College of Arts & Sciences, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, One University Way, San Antonio, Texas 78224. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator (e.g., AACRAO; http://www.aacrao.org/credential/index.htm ).
