Job Description

The Department of Natural Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks applications from qualified candidates for a part-time non-tenure track position in biology, specializing in areas that would enable them to teach one or more of the following courses: General Biology I & II for majors and non-majors. Previous college-level or AP Biology teaching experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach lower and/or upper-division lecture courses for science majors

  • Teach lower and/or upper-division laboratory courses for science majors

  • Teach lower-division lecture courses for non-science majors

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for instruction and learning in a laboratory setting.

  • Maintain consistent communication with students and colleagues in the Biology program.

Required Education and Experience:  

  • M.S. or Ph.D. from an accredited university in Biology, Zoology, or related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous university-level teaching experience.

  • Experience with Online teaching methodologies.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students

  • Ability to interact with students from diverse backgrounds

The position is open until filled, but review of applications will begin within one month of posting.

If selected for the position, before issuing a letter of appointment, the official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective candidate to have the transcript translated, evaluated, and notarized.
