Position Summary

Seeking an experienced practice-based Epidemiologist who will commit to the research, teaching and service mission of the department and the College of Public Health. In addition to being a member of the faculty at the UNMC COPH, this position will have a joint appointment at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NE DHHS) Division of Public Health. This position will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of NE DHHS. As part of the NE DHHS team the candidate will develop the expertise and skills of the staff within the Epidemiology Unit at the division of public health, will lead and manage teams, projects, and strategic initiatives, assist in the creation of a strategic plan for the State related to data management, sharing, and a research agenda, develop and submit grant applications federal and non-federal funding sources to secure external funding in compliance with the rules and regulations of NE DHHS and assist with implementing priorities established in the joint Academic Health Department agreement between the COPH and NE DHHS.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications include: Earned DrPH in Epidemiology or Ph.D. in Epidemiology with experience working in public health practice (Local or State Health Department, Federal Public Health Agency, other nonprofit or public health organization). Candidates should have or demonstrate the potential for 1) a track record of external research funding and scholarship; 2) substantive expertise in practice-based epidemiology; 3) a commitment to teaching, advising graduate students, mentoring post-doctoral fellows, and service to the Department of Epidemiology. 4) experience as a public health practitioner.

Supplemental Qualifications

Experience or willingness 1) to work as part of a multidisciplinary research team; 2) to work with communities; 3) translating research into practice. 4) experience working in public health practice (Local or State Health Department, Federal Public Health Agency, other nonprofit or public health organization
