Position Qualification


Position Summary
The Mary Eliza Mahoney Mentoring Program (MEMMP) is a program that has been designed to support first generation students and students from underrepresented populations who are admitted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Nursing (CON). The purpose of the program is to provide mentoring that will support students’ academic journey at UNMC as well as prepare them for transition into practice post-graduation. Students will benefit from professional and leadership development as well as social advocacy.
The UNMC CON is seeking applicants for a full-time 12-month faculty position as Director of the MEMMP. We are seeking candidates who will subscribe to UNMC’s ITEACH values (Innovation, Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Courage, and Healing). The Director of the MEMMP reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs. The Director should have a passion for mentoring, effectively communicate program goals, and provide training and support necessary to implement the mentoring model. The position is responsible for supervision of all aspects of the program, including assistant director, graduate assistants, peer tutors, faculty liaison, recruitment of mentors, and will direct the assessment and evaluation of the program to make changes, as needed, to promote quality results. The Director will be responsible for a mentoring caseload. The position is located at the CON – Omaha Division but will be required to travel to CON Divisions across the state of Nebraska located in Lincoln, Kearney, Norfolk, and Scottsbluff.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing required; Doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred
Active unencumbered Nebraska Nursing license or eligible to apply for a Nebraska Nursing license
5 or more years of experience as a Nursing faculty
Supplemental Qualifications
Experience with mentoring/advising of students and/or nurses
