Job Summary

 

The Academic Program Manager will develop, coordinate, and execute undergraduate academic programming and curriculum under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic and International Affairs (ADAIA) in the John Martinson Honors College. Duties involve taking a leadership role within the college working closely with faculty, staff, students, and other college, and university administration. This position will oversee the administration of the honors curriculum at Purdue in Indianapolis and the implementation of the ADAIA’s initiatives by working independently to initiate and assist with implementing the college’s strategic plan priorities and planning to achieve program objectives. Responsibilities will also include liaising with faculty, students, the Honors College admissions and recruitment team, the Honors College communications unit, and other university administration regarding the college’s program procedures and recruitment; assess programs and procedures as well as mentoring students and developing programs to support Honors College students’ sense of belonging and community. The Program Manager will also develop content for website, social media, informational materials, and promotional materials for department with the Honors College communications unit and in accordance with current Purdue brand guidelines.

This role offers a salary between $59,000-$63,000 based on candidate experience and hiring manager discretion. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Administration: 

  • Collaborate closely with the Associate Dean of Academic and International Affairs (ADAIA) to craft and execute the dynamic Honors College curriculum alongside engaging co-curricular initiatives. Act as a pivotal link between faculty, students, the Honors College admissions and recruitment team, the communications unit, and other university stakeholders, ensuring seamless program operations and fostering a vibrant academic community. Spearhead the implementation of strategic priorities, meticulously steering the planning process towards the attainment of program objectives. Conduct thorough assessments of programs and procedures, fostering a culture of continual improvement.
  • Provide dedicated support to Honors College faculty and instructors in Indianapolis, empowering them in their roles while nurturing student programs, facilitating impactful research endeavors, and fostering professional growth opportunities. Actively engage with students, adeptly communicating available opportunities and connecting them with the appropriate faculty and campus resources. Serve as a passionate advocate for the Honors College, effectively communicating its mission and curriculum to faculty and campus partners.
  • Serve as a conduit for university policies relevant to undergraduate students, ensuring clear understanding and compliance among students and faculty alike. Meticulously oversee program adherence to university, college, and departmental policies, maintaining the integrity of the Honors College experience.
  • Expertly manage the logistical intricacies of experiential learning, research initiatives, and special programs, leveraging both internal and external partnerships to facilitate enriching internship and research opportunities for students. Possessing a keen eye for student development, may also provide administrative guidance to student clubs or organizations, fostering a supportive and inclusive campus community.
  • Demonstrate autonomy and collaboration in equal measure, orchestrating engaging events in conjunction with the ADAIA and other stakeholders to actively engage both students and faculty. Represent the Honors College with poise and enthusiasm at university and campus partner meetings and events, ensuring its continued prominence within the academic landscape.

 

Communication:

  • Develop content for website, social media, informational materials, and promotional materials for department with the Honors College communications unit and in accordance with current Purdue brand guidelines.
  • At times, this will involve working closely with faculty, staff, and undergraduate students to develop these materials to articulate a positive image of the research and teaching in the college.  
     

Team Support 

  • Assist in all aspects of college administration as needed and provide coverage when other staff are out of the office.
  • Serve on assigned college and university committees.
  • Collaborate and assist with other and college planning, policy development, implementation, evaluation, and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in higher education instruction or honors education, program administration, or related field. 
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education will be accepted.
