Job Summary
Eastern Washington University (EWU) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Academic Compliance Analyst & Reporting Coordinator to join the Division of Academic Affairs. This role reports to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and is crucial in ensuring that the university adheres to the standards and regulations related to the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), Department of Education, and Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities distance education program policies.
In addition, this position provides data to comply with the US Department of Education’s Gainful Employment (GE) rule and define the Financial Value Transparency (FVT) framework. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of higher education compliance, distance education regulatory requirements, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to foster a culture of compliance.

The salary for this position is $41,316 (minimum) up to $47,532. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Education, Law, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a compliance role within higher education;
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape for distance education, including federal and state regulations, and NC-SARA policies;
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel (macros/vlookup/pivot tables/charts/data visualization), Outlook, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Experience reporting data from multiple systems supporting business computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey complex regulatory requirements to diverse audiences;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving compliance issues.
  • Candidates must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree;
  • Experience specific to distance education and NC-SARA;
  • 5 years or more of experience in higher education, academics or accreditation/authorization.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Ensure that the university remains in good standing with NC-SARA, managing all aspects of compliance and guidelines including application, renewal processes, and reporting requirements.
    • Analyze and coordinate federal, state, and accrediting body regulations affecting distance education. Interpret and disseminate regulatory updates to relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop and revise policies and procedures to align with NC-SARA requirements and guidelines for best practices in EWU’s distance education.
    • Develop and conduct training sessions for faculty and staff on compliance issues related to distance education and NC-SARA to promote awareness advance university-wide compliance.
    • Perform regular audits of distance education programs and practices to ensure compliance with NC-SARA and other regulatory requirements. Identify areas of risk and recommend appropriate training, support or corrective actions.
    • Assist with maintaining accreditation standards related to distance education and manage state licensure processes for distance education programs including all necessary applications, payments, reports, and communication required to be in compliance with state, federal, and international regulations with out-of-state educational activities.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the University and NC-SARA, state regulatory agencies, and accreditation bodies. Engage with internal stakeholders, including academic departments and administration, to ensure compliance efforts are integrated and supported across the university.
    • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit required reports and maintain comprehensive records of administrative activities, audits, and communications related to online and distance education offerings updating web content as needed.
    • Develops and reports data to comply with the US Department of Education’s Gainful Employment rule and define the Financial Value Transparency (FVT) framework.
    • Provide general office management and support as needed.
