Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position will serve as a full-time professional Academic Advisor in the Feller Center for Academic Advising and Career Planning in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. In addition to academic advising, this position will support the graduation clearance process for undergraduate students, lead the Peer Mentor Program, and serve as the liaison with Living-Learning Programs. The Feller Center is a student-centered, team-oriented work environment where staff who are eager to engage with and make a difference in the lives of undergraduate students are able to contribute their talents and grow as professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree.


Experience:

  • At least 2 years of advising or relevant experience in a higher education setting, including as a student employee.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to positively support and empower students in all aspects of their academic journeys.
  • Outstanding communications skills, ability to listen for understanding and with empathy.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and remain organized.
  • Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing data in spreadsheets and databases, and be nimble in learning and using a variety of online campus-based software systems.

  • Master’s degree.
  • Degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
