Job Description
The Graduate Assistant for the Achievement Initiative for Minority Males (A.I.M.M.) is responsible for tasks/events in support of the A.I.M.M. program. This position will work alongside the Assistant Director of Student Life-Programming who coordinates the A.I.M.M. program.
This a grant funded position temporary part-time position through September 31, 2023.
Responsibilities:
Be responsible for managing and maintaining all records for A.I.M.M.; Maintain A.I.M.M. master event binder; Responsible for checking A.I.M.M. email and voicemails daily.
Must be available for all A.I.M.M. events, meetings, workshops, study hall, etc.
Co-supervise A.I.M.M. peer mentors
Serve as a mentor for A.I.M.M. participants
Help coordinate A&M-SA Urban Leaders’ Summit (Spring 2023) & Minority Males Onboarding Leadership Conference (August 2023)
Research best practices and strategies that increase effectiveness of retention for minority male programs.
Assist with the planning and implementation of workshops, events, trainings, and social events
Assist with one-on-one consultations with A.I.M.M. participants at least once a month
Complete any paperwork related to event planning (Ex: JagSync forms, reservation request, evaluations, etc.).
Record and distribute proceedings of all A.I.M.M. meetings and agendas as necessary.
Keep attendance records and update group chat as necessary.
Maintain and report accurate financial records, spending analysis, and budget of A.I.M.M.
Support and maintain office standards and policies.
Maintain up to twenty-five (25) office hours per week during summer, fall, and spring semesters in the Central Academic Building – CAB Office (Suite 103).
Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of A.I.M.M
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational and time-management skills – ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer competency, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media.
Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Have an appreciation for diversity and experience working with diverse groups
Maintain a 3.0 Graduate GPA.
Currently enrolled in at three (3) graduate hours and be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Be able to identify and implement strategies for enhancing a campus community through student engagement and involvement.
Learn and develop advising strategies and skills to effectively build strong advising relationships with students.
Become experienced in training, developing, and assessing student learning outcomes.
Obtain an understanding of skills and educate students on the skills needed to work with and engage a diverse student population.
Obtain experience working in a fast-paced environment as a team with professional staff and student employees.
Enhance their skills in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
