College Services at UWA delivers academic administration and technical support to the University's schools, faculty, and research students. Committed to excellence and continuous improvement, our team collaborates closely with academic stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and uphold best practices. Technical Services within College Services provides specialized expertise to facilitate teaching and research endeavours, ensuring high-performance outcomes and a culture of safety compliance.

About the Student Prototyping Centre

As part of College Services, you’ll work from UWA’s School of Design Student Prototyping Centre, a highly equipped installation and model-making workshop, directly assisting students and staff from Architecture, Design and Fine Arts disciplines.

About the opportunity

You will report to a Senior Technician, offering technical expertise and assistance to staff and students across various practical activities and research initiatives. Your responsibilities will span multiple disciplines, including setting up, modifying, and maintaining specialised equipment. You will collaborate with academic personnel and students to design, manufacture, and assemble teaching and research projects, while also engaging with external clients as necessary.

About you

We're seeking individuals who can demonstrate strong practical skills and adapt them to diverse technical challenges, along with experience in similar CNC technologies like laser cutting and 3D printing. You should be able to work closely with academic staff and students, understanding their needs and providing tailored technical solutions, while also effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders by conveying technical information clearly and concisely. Additionally, a commitment to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of safety in all technical activities is essential.
