We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the School of Psychology Technical Services Team. You will work together with colleagues to provide technical support, ensuring day-to-day operational needs are met.

 What the role involves: 

  • Being a core member of our friendly technical team, working collaboratively to solve a wide range of queries and technical issues, ensuring day-to-day operational needs are met.
  • Ordering— accurately assess any technical requirements and specifications for requested equipment.  Locate supplies and/or obtain quotes.  Raise requisitions to purchase IT and other specialist equipment, whilst understanding and adhering to current organisational procurement policies.
  • Deploying and supporting a variety of devices such as desktop computers, laptops, docks, tablets, AV equipment, and telephones.  
  • Troubleshooting, re-installing, and relocating devices as needed.
  • Providing excellent customer service to both staff and students, assisting them with common tasks (ie. installing software, using bespoke digital systems) and helping resolve issues for them.
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining accurate data and documentation. I.e. spreadsheets, databases, web pages, and SharePoint.
  • Supporting in all other aspects of technical operations as required

Our IT environment is a diverse one which includes devices running Windows, macOS, and Linux.  Experience with multiple operating systems and a range of different hardware would be highly beneficial to this role.

What we need from you: 

  • Ability to work accurately in order to maintain high standards. Quality is important to us.
  • The knowledge and ability to undertake a wide range of technical support activities with a systematic and methodical approach.
  • Knowledge of how to configure and use common desktop software such as the MS Office suite (eg. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams).
  • The ability to provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.

We have a team-orientated approach, and candidates should have excellent interpersonal, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills. The role may also involve some manual handling.

This is a permanent, full-time (36.25 hours per week) post. Job share arrangements may be considered.
