Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a Teaching Fellow x2 within UCD Sutherland School of Law

The UCD Sutherland School of Law is ranked in the top 100 Law Schools in the QS World University rankings. The School's distinctive mission is to support and lead on the transformative potential of law for contemporary societies. The School is home to several research Centres and groups, and three major European Research Council (ERC) projects. It has an increasingly international focus and impact, and is recognised for the quality of its research both within Law and across disciplines.

The School offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes to a diverse cohort of students, and in 2022-23 will launch a new range of micro-credentials as part of `MicroCreds' project. MicroCreds is a first-of-its-kind, four-year programme, led by the Irish Universities Association (IUA) and funded through the Higher Education Authority's Human Capital Initiative, aimed at establishing an innovative system of quality assured and accredited micro-credentials across the seven IUA universities, including University College Dublin.

Micro-credentials will provide up/re-skilling opportunities to those in employment and those seeking to enhance their employability, and to drive lifelong learning in Ireland, in close collaboration with enterprise. Building on existing good practice at institutional, national, European and international levels, the MicroCreds programme will develop a collective national framework for micro-credentials across the universities; build engagement with enterprise for the development and roll-out of the micro-credentials programmes; develop a coordinated `shop window' portal to drive awareness of MicroCreds micro-credentials; market MicroCreds and help learners to find and track high-quality, flexible short courses across the Irish university sector.

The ambitious MicroCreds programme will play a central role in delivering on the University's and the broader Irish university sector's strategic ambitions, as well as on a range of key national and European policy objectives. Working in partnership and with support from the MicroCreds programme, the UCD Sutherland School of Law seeks to recruit a temporary Teaching Fellow.

The appointee will be expected to support the development of MicroCreds / Graduate Taught offerings within the School of Law across several subject / disciplinary areas. This will include supporting the development of content, supporting learning resources and assessment strategies and contributing to the delivery and administration of new MicroCreds offerings during the pilot phase. Training and mentorship will be provided to allow Teaching Fellows to enhance their teaching profiles and develop their academic careers.
