Leeds Beckett University have a fantastic opportunity to work on this exciting collaboration with NuGreen Ltd on a 2.5 year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP ). The role will be at the centre of a project to process and utilise healthcare waste to create new products in new sectors. You will develop the first iteration of new innovation and New Product Development pathways to bring a commercially viable low-carbon aggregate substitute to market in the highly regulated construction industry.

The project and role are vital in fulfilling NuGreen’s strategic aim to develop and commercialise further products, to reduce the environmental impact of healthcare, and to reduce the drain on dwindling natural resources. This project will support NuGreen to be positioned at the forefront of innovation to help address the UKs net zero ambitions.

The role presents the successful candidate with wide-ranging experience and an excellent development opportunity to lead a project across a range of business functions, including testing, new product development and commercialisation, with genuine potential to be employed by the business post-project.

NuGreen is a research-led sustainability consultancy based near Kirby Lonsdale, Cumbria. Their vision is to repurpose medical waste efficiently, to create something new, to reduce emissions, creating a sustainable culture within healthcare.

You will be well supported by academic experts at Leeds Beckett and colleagues at NuGreen Ltd but you need to be curious, open to new challenges, excited about the sustainability challenge and prepared to involve yourself in all aspects of a business.

A Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or higher) in civil engineering, materials science or related area is a requirement, with a strong technical background, some experience in materials testing and mechanical and physical properties principles.
