The University of Surrey, in collaboration with Pro-Moto Europe Limited, a leading technical training provider for the Automotive Industry, seeks a highly motivated Business Intelligence Developer – Automotive, to spearhead a groundbreaking Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Project.

Pro-Moto specialises in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) courses and assessments, along with technical training in various automotive systems. They also consult with the automotive support industry on product, process, and technological development. 

This KTP focuses of developing an innovative, independent platform to analyse the state-of-health of an Electric Vehicles high-voltage battery. The platform will predict future battery performance and provide actionable insights to improve performance and extend battery life. This position is based at Pro-Moto in Ash Vale, Surrey, and supported by a team of experts from the University of Surrey, including Dr Guohong Tian (School of Mechanical Engineering), and Dr Abhijit Sengupta and Dr Mehdi Toloo (School of Business and Hospitality & Tourism Management).

We’re looking for a highly motivated and results-driven individual with a minimum postgraduate degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a strong data analytics field. The ideal candidate will possess a background in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, with experience in Electric Vehicle, On-board diagnostics, and Business Intelligence Engineering. They will also have experience in:

  • Data Analysis and AI tools and programming: Proficiency in one or more of Python, R, Rust, SQL with the ability to learn others quickly.
  • Data Visualisation: Creating impactful visualisations and graphical user interfaces. 
  • Project management/Business Acumen: Lead a strategic project, mapping business and information processes, presenting insights in clear reports, and translating technical jargon for non-technical audiences. 

This role is ideal for a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is energised by learning new technologies. A passion for driving innovation through data-driven solutions is a must! A genuine interest in automotive industry and electric vehicles is a plus.  

This position is offered as a 30-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will benefit from business-based training, a generous dedicated training budget and time specifically allocated for their further development, in addition to a diverse range of technical and non-technical skills (such as project management and leadership). There may be potential to secure a permanent position with Pro-Moto at the end of the KTP.
