The Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Research Strategy Manager.

The Opportunity:
The post holder is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for strategic evolution, oversight management and support of Usher’s global research ambitions. The post provides direct strategic support to the Usher Director and will both directly support and complement the work of Usher’s component research centres and their directors to deliver an integrated and internationally recognised research strategy and environment for the Institute. The post holder will coordinate, plan and develop the implementation of key strategic research initiatives as well as manage operational activities related to supporting and growing the Usher research portfolio working across College(s), the University of Edinburgh and with partners to deliver this.

The postholder will provide leadership and direction in developing and growing a strong supportive culture and research environment throughout Usher that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion, integrity and that nurtures and develops emerging talent.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering business critical projects
  • Proven ability to create a strategic vision and organisational strategy development.
  • Evidenced ability to secure external funding; bid development, negotiation and post- award delivery.
  • Experience in managing high value/risk projects, preferable within an academic environment
  • Demonstrable senior level business analysis experience to aid strategic decision making.
