The University of Wolverhampton has ambitious plans to grow its international recruitment activities and the community of overseas students who study with us in Wolverhampton and at our partner institutions worldwide.

We are looking for an experienced Senior International Recruitment Manager to join our Global Opportunities team.  You will contribute to the successful delivery of the University of Wolverhampton’s international student recruitment strategy. 

The Senior International Recruitment Manager will be responsible for development and delivery of a strategy for a specific region(s) and also the development of the marketing and conversion activities for the Global Opportunities Team, helping the University to achieve its growth ambitions.

As a Senior International Recruitment Manager, you will have an excellent understanding of the national and global student recruitment environment and be able to optimise student acquisition from key markets while growing emerging markets.  You will work effectively with key stakeholders to ensure the University meets its targets in undergraduate and postgraduate international student recruitment.

We are seeking an experienced professional to fill this senior role, contributing significantly to both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our international student recruitment initiatives.

Responsibilities include spearheading the growth and diversification of our international student portfolio with a substantial existing market area.  As a key player, you will be instrumental in driving our strategic ambitions for expansion.

You will raise the University of Wolverhampton’s brand awareness, deliver excellent customer service across the international prospective student journey from enquiry to enrolment, and provide input into the development of a suite of recruitment materials, across relevant platforms that are tailored to the needs of the prospective international students. 

About you

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have a proven track record of successfully delivering student recruitment activities in a higher education context.

You will have experience of managing relationships with agents and feeder institutions. The role requires effective internal and external liaison, and you will act as a key ambassador representing the University. You will have exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to build strong working relationships and can communicate effectively across a diverse set of audiences.

You will be collaborative, target-driven, and a strong team player with a flexible approach to work. The role will include travel in the UK, EU and internationally.

Activities and responsibilities include:

  • Developing The University of Wolverhampton’s international profile and identifying new development opportunities.
  • Lead on the marketing and conversion strategy for the Global Opportunities Office.
  • Managing high-level relationships associated with specific markets, including identifying, developing, and maintaining links with key external stakeholders, including sponsorship bodies, government ministries embassies, university partners, and agents.
  • Working closely with senior staff members across the University’s faculties to plan and deliver recruitment targets. 
  • Participation in a range of student recruitment activities in key markets for the University, producing market plans, regular reviewing of activities, results, and strategy.
  • Organisation and attendance at a range of student recruitment events including exhibitions, school visits, sponsor meetings, and working with agent representatives.
  • Monitor and control of the budget for the region(s).
  • Developing systems and procedures to improve the reliability and performance of service delivery to international students and the international student experience.
  • This post will also include line management responsibilities.

Applicants will be expected to have the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge of international recruitment.
  • Experience working with overseas and/or external stakeholders to develop working relationships and partnerships.
  • A track record of driving growth and hitting set targets.
  • An understanding of current issues relating to the current international HE markets and other opportunities for UK HEIs overseas.
  • Ability to maintain a strategic oversight of own area of responsibility and to focus on essential activities.
  • Experience of managing marketing projects to deliver high quality, creative and innovative marketing solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
