Bayes Business School and the School of Health of Psychological Sciences (SHPS), City, University of London, established in 2019 an Interdisciplinary Research Centre – the Centre for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR). The Centre represents a major new initiative at City and is intended to address the complex challenges of embedding innovation into practice within healthcare services and delivery. The Centre aims to achieve thought leadership through research, and impact by informing policy and practitioner communities in this field. It also provides a platform for securing and managing externally-funded research grants. CHIR’s research has secured funding from a range of sources including NIHR, Academic Health Science Networks, NHS England and UKRI. CHIR staff publish in a range of leading journals across disciplinary areas including management studies, health services research and psychology.

The post holder will play a crucial role in developing the research output from the Centre, working in close collaboration with the Centre’s Co-Directors: Prof. Harry Scarbrough (Bayes) and Dr. Charitini Stavropoulou (SHPS) and with other CHIR researchers as appropriate. 

The Centre for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR) at City, University of London is currently working on projects related to the scaling up of innovation in healthcare, including a particular focus on the implementation of cutting edge digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in areas such as radiology. The researcher appointed to this role will work closely with the Applied Research Collaborative (ARC) North Thames, who fund part of the role.

The role requires a range of mixed-method, quantitative and qualitative research skills and the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders and healthcare professionals in the UK.

The main responsibilities:

Supporting study design, collecting data and conducting data analysis.

• Leading on writing up reports and scientific papers to disseminate the findings of the study.
• Presenting research findings to a range of different audiences.
• Working collaboratively with the Applied Research Collaborative (ARC) North Thames;
• Working in accordance with professional guidelines and complying with relevant requirements of Research Governance;
• Contributing to the overall activities of the project team as required;

All the above will be conducted under the guidance of, and in collaboration, with CHIR's Co-Directors, Professor Harry Scarbrough (Bayes) and Dr. Charitini Stavropoulou, (SHPS) who in turn are committed to further developing the researcher's skill-set.

The researcher appointed to this role will be involved in fieldwork activities for these projects as well as data analysis of already collected data. They will be instrumental in publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and will support the development and submission of grant applications.
